The ceremony was held in the middle of Burg Rheinfels. Burg Rheinfels is a castle ruin located in Sankt Goar, Germany overlooking the Rhine. It was built in 1245 and it is the largest castle overlooking the Rhine. The reception was held at the Cellar of the castle. The cellar has amazing high ceilings and stone walls.
The venue was decorated with lots of candles, grapes and the colours were burgundy and white. Also they illuminated the cellar with spots of amber light on the wall. The amber light gave this cosy feeling to the place. The wedding cake was beautifully decorated with grapes too. The place cards were attached to wine corks and the wine bottles had personalized labels. Also, the bride and groom changed the flags on the top of the castle to announce that from that day on it would be Mr. and Mrs Matthews. You could find the personalized “M” on the flags, menu, place cards and wine labels.
